Can We Talk About Booze?
‘Twas the season for merry making, champagne was abundant in my fridge for sure. I’ve always maintained moderation in all things, however sometimes that scale can tip over NOT in my favour. My hubby and I have taken a month or two to “detox” after the holidays for a few years now. This past visit the USA, I noticed that several friends had given up partaking all together. Last week when I caught up with some longtime girlfriends in Sydney one had given up booze for good, two were on an alcohol cleanse, and two of us were planning on a "Feb Free” month.
Why? Is it the sugar? Is it the quantity? Is it our body’s reaction to excess? Is it peer pressure? Is it because science is sharing with us facts about what’s happening to our bodies after consuming one of the most addictive drugs in our lives? There are so many reasons — each different and unique to the individual — but come back to the same fact: alcohol is a potent toxin in our bodies.
This February, join me and my friends as we cleanse our systems of any excess, be it alcohol, sugar, flour, cigarettes…you name it. Let’s sweat it out together and ask some challenging questions in the process <3
